Comet Moon Cow

Newest design so far --for the young and young at heart, I think.
At the Philadelphia Waldorf School Holiday sale last month, a young boy approached
my table looking wide-eyed at all my shirts, clearly engaged. His mom then informed me
he liked cows and asked if I had a cow shirt. Unfortunately at that time I did not, and I do prefer my subjects to evolve into my design stock organically... but I continued thinking about this idea, since I like cows myself, have been thinking alot about them recently in general; and also, the comet probe
had just landed. I thought about making a cow on a comet, but the comet images from the probe that I saw looked entirely too rugged. Then I remembered the nursery rhyme, “Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat & the Fiddle”--- with the cow jumping over the moon--- and figured that would be a good enough celestial body to include with my cow! This image started out as very small ballpoint pen sketch on the back of an envelope, came together quickly and had hopes of becoming a woodcut. Right now it is a screenprint for purposes of fabric-printing efficiency.
These will also debut this weekend at the Mt. Airy Art Garage holiday sale. I plan to have a good range of kid's sizes --3T (smallest size this image will fit on) up to Youth XL, and some adult sizes too--and ladies tank tops will be ready for the summer.
In the meantime, Happy early Winter Solstice!

The Raven : Corvus Corax

Here is my new Raven shirt, complete with the bird's scientific name, Corvus Corax.
(so as not to be confused with others of the Corvid family).
Ravens are mythologically significant; they are also very intelligent birds.
I thought it a fitting subject to be included in my inventory!
This is a 2 color print, with a pale aqua spot tone and a black ink key image; it looks good on
blue-ish fabrics as well as orange-rust and mustard shades, which really show the blue layer to advantage.

more Silk Scarves/Holiday 2014

I've been busy working on some new things this fall of 2014 (as well as attending various local sales events)-- one of which is New Silk Scarves! These have been hand-dyed and discharge-printed with my current scarf patterns. I have also started dyeing and printing silk Infinity (circle) scarves, which is a great find to be able to offer, along with my desirable cotton ones.
This one is a black-green shade; this particular black dye discharges to a green-blue. I have other colors available too.
The above is a blue silk, a color that has been popular with customers with my newest leafy discharge-print pattern.
These will be available at the Mt. Airy Art Garage Holiday Sale this weekend 12/20 and 12/21
(just in time for the Winter Solstice!) 11 W. Mt. Airy Ave, Phila., PA 19119---12-6pm both days.

Wyck House “Behind the Fence”--Germantown, Philadelphia, PA

I'll back at Wyck House (6026 Germantown Avenue) on Saturday, September 6, 10am-4pm, for the 2104 Philadelphia Honey Festival----I was at that event last year and it proved to be a good one for me---as well as being a lot of fun, with all the bee-&-honey-themed activity going on!

New Scarves

A few new scarves as of today----At left, a Discharge print on black silk
(this one is still kind of in-progress, I think I need to add a bit more printing to it);
the warm grey-ish middle scarf and the medium blue scarf at right are both double-dye/dual design Discharge print experiments, featuring my stripe discharge print enhanced with a plant-like pattern print on top. They were fun to do but took longer.
Squeegee Power Rocks! (showing my screen with the plant pattern stencil
during printing). I am looking forward to the fall and holiday sale season---
Dates and events to be announced as they solidify.

Kids Size T's--the Collection

The Bee T-shirt joins Kids' “Robo-Squirrel” and the Mini-Vintage Drill T-shirt
as part of the collection of designs I have been carrying in sizes 6-months to
size 4 (and in some cases, youth sizes also). Demand for these have remained
consistent enough for me to keep them in my stock!

Oh Happy May (and June too) upcoming art sales and Mt. Airy

This Spring in Philly finally got underway (so welcome after the past winter) and with it art sales were good. Mt. Airy's "Mt. Airy Day" was an awesome kickoff (thanks to my customers, old and new!) This weekend I will be at "Art for the Cash Poor 15" at the Crane Building, 1400 N. American St., Phila.---both Sat and Sun.,12-6pm.
In July, August and September, I will be back at the Wyck House in Germantown for their "Behind
the Fence' festivals. Dates to come.

Then really it becomes back-to-school and ramp-up for Fall and holiday art sale times.
Above is one of my new silk scarves, I've been experimenting with new dye for silk.
Below are my yoga Tanks which are featured for summer at the Mt. Airy Art Garage.
